Laura Notess

Laura is the Civic Space Thematic Lead at Transparency International in Berlin, where she works on the civic space challenges facing anti-corruption defenders. She is an international human rights lawyer with experience working on freedom of expression, media freedom, freedom of association and other rights critical for protecting an open civic space. 


Previously, she was Senior Legal Officer at the Centre for Law and Democracy in Canada and has also worked on land and natural resource rights at the World Resources Institute. She holds a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center and a Bachelor of Arts in International Political Economy from Fordham University in New York.
